July Foodie Penpals Reveal Day

I’m so excited to finally be writing about an awesome program that I participated in this month, Foodie Penpals!

The Lean Green Bean

Each month Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean pairs up bloggers and readers to send fun food packages to each other.

My foodie pen pal this month was Leigh. She just moved to Virginia from South Carolina, so I was excited to send her some of my local favorite foods. Check out her blog, From My Kitchen To Yours One Day At A Time, to see what goodies she received from me.

Ashleigh and her mom, Alice, were chosen to shop for me. They live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, so I couldn’t wait to see what treats were waiting for me in the box. I was beyond excited when the package was delivered to my door!

I was super surprised when the box revealed that all of my treats were from Ashe County Cheese. I love trying local foods from different parts of the country, so this was quite a treat. Look at all the goodies!!!

They sent me honey spoons, south of the border trail mix, yogurt covered pretzels, peanut butter chocolate candies, a popcorn cob, and fresh garden vegetable cheese.

Unfortunately the cheese didn’t quite make the hot trip up to Maryland. We had unseasonably high temperatures the week that my package was delivered, and the cheese didn’t survive. When Ashleigh found out, she sent me a replacement. She’s awesome!

Everything was delicious! I think my favorite was the popcorn cob. I had never tried something like this before, so I was excited to see how it would turn out.

It was amazing! I devoured it!

A big thank you to Ashleigh and Alice for a fantastic package!

I’m so happy that I stumbled upon Foodie Penpals and decided to participate. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again!

If you’re a foodie like me and you want to give it a try, there’s still time to sign up for August.

Here are all the details from Lindsay:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!

-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

-Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents.  Please note, Canadian residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re interested in participating for August, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

You must submit your information by August 4th as pairings will be emailed on August 5th!

*If you’re from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send me an email and I’ll see if we get enough interest this month!

  1. Wow, I have never seen microwavable popcorn on a cob like that. Cool. I just love FPP for all the new things you get exposed to. The only bad part is also wanting what everybody else got too 😉

  2. Jealous of your honey spoons!!! It all looks delish! Of course I got a pretty awesome box too!! Gotta talk to gray about getting some crabs next week, might need you to email the details on how to cook those babies up!

    • I love your plans for taking the dip and biscuit mixes to the beach! You’ll have to let me know how they turn out! Sounds like so much fun! Haven’t eaten crabs since I was a kid, but I’m pretty sure my mom bought them already cooked. Let me check with her and I’ll email you this week:)
