The Zombies are Coming!

Can I tell you how excited I am?!!

If you had talked to me five years ago, there is no way I would be excited about zombies. No chance. Then, The Walking Dead came along. If you’re obsessed with the show like I am, you know what I mean. If you haven’t been watching, you’re missing out.

Yes, it’s about zombies. But it’s SO well written. The story lines are intriguing. The characters pull you in. Some are loved. Some are hated. And you find yourself yelling at them to Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when the zombies attack. It’s an awesome show.

After what seems like forever (six months), the third season returns October 14th. Yes, I’m counting down. This season is going to be a lot darker. There are new characters who are going to mix things up, and some old ones are anticipated to return. It’s going to be good.

When I ran the Rockville Twilight 8k, I learned that zombies are going to be invading my own neighborhood! The folks from Hallow, Inc. were there promoting their new attraction. This year, Hallow Inc. is introducing The Warehouse: Project 4.1 . It’s an urban haunted warehouse – and it has zombies! Lots of zombies! The grin on my face couldn’t get any bigger!

After missing out on a free t-shirt at the race, Justin Watson (Hallow Inc.’s PR Director) contacted me and gave me two free t-shirts! I was already planning on going before this happened, but Justin was so nice and his kind gesture made me want to attend even more. After checking out Hallow Inc.’s web site, I recognized him and his team. The zombies are auditioned actors and the haunted rooms look super creepy. My fear level has increased tenfold and I can’t wait to get the crap scared out of me. The tickets are a little pricey ($32), but I figure I have to splurge this once. Hopefully it will be worth it!

I was thinking about doing a zombie run this year, but after taking a break from running, I figured there was no chance I would outrun the zombies. The Warehouse will be the next best thing.

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store for me. Check back for a recap in a few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed that I survive! 🙂

**Update 10/11/12**

If you’re planning on going to the zombie warehouse, do it! Yes, the price tag is a little steep, but it’s money well spent! If you can, go with a small group (they only let 5 people in at a time).

I went with a group of friends last Saturday night. Let me just tell you, the creators knew what they were doing. The zombie warehouse is SCARY! The zombies were so realistic. Everything from the movement to the makeup was spot on. Grown adults were screaming and running. It was scary and hilarious at the same time. After getting the sh*t scared out of me the first five minutes, all I could do was laugh the rest of the time.

So. Much. Fun.

If you scare easily, don’t worry. You are given a “safe word” at the beginning and can say it at any time if you need to get out. The zombies will break character and escort you to the nearest exit.

If you end up going, let me know what you thought. Just be careful…you never know what’s around the corner… especially at the end…it will blow your mind! 😉

  1. Hallow inc is ok, small budget and very short at 10 minutes. The best indoor haunted house is by far Bennets Curse, and Markoffs the best outdoor near DC
