Hi! I’m Megan, a 34-year-old living in Maryland (DC area).
I have a wonderful fiancé, Mark, and we’ve been together for ten years.
Our two little dogs are our children and we love them dearly. I’m a dog lover at heart.
I’ve been a vegetarian for over fifteen years, but have struggled to take off the weight. I have a major sweet tooth. Peanut butter and chocolate is my number one weakness. I’ve always been a chunky kid, teenager, and young adult. I have dreamed about being a runner and proudly sporting a finisher medal around my neck, and now I’m making that dream a reality.
After a scary start to 2012, I’m getting serious about my health. The love of my life was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and nearly died. It was the most frightening experience of my life. Now he’s on permanent dialysis until he receives a kidney transplant.
The whole situation made me step back and really look at how I haven’t been taking care of my body. I decided to take action and registered for my first race. Since then, I’ve finished two 5k races and an 8k race. In May 2014, I made my lifelong dream come true. I finished my first half marathon!
Now that I can call myself a half marathon finisher, the sky is the limit. It gave me the confidence I needed to continue making goals to better myself. I decided to make the commitment to myself to lose the extra weight. I’m taking the time to really focus on my diet and make healthy choices. I’m already starting to notice a difference in how I feel, and I can’t wait to see the progress that I will make in the coming months.
I’m also setting more fitness goals for myself. If I can finish a half marathon, what else can I do? I know that I’m capable of so much more, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me in getting stronger and even more confident!
I look forward to sharing my favorite nutritious food and fitness adventures with you as I dash toward the finish lines in life…FULL of confidence!
Feel free to get in touch with me and say hi! I look forward to talking with you soon!

Hey girl!
Good luck on your journey! 🙂 I discovered your blog through The Lean Green Bean, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you through your blog! I’ve been trying (and failing so far) to get my blog up and running… You’re amazing start is great motivation to keep trying with mine!
Awww, thanks Leah! Good luck to you too! Getting everything up and running definitely took a lot of motivation and hard work, but it’s been worth it. I’ve learned so much already!
I love your fitness goals! Believe it or not, I’ve never tried yoga, but I just may have to give it a try! Looking forward to seeing your blog grow and learning from you! 🙂
A vegetarian, dog lover living in DC ~ how could I not follow you!
Aww, how sweet of you! Love your blog! You’ve lived in some amazing places! Can’t wait to read about your future adventures. 🙂
I can relate to loving the sugar. I also struggle with wanting to eat a lot of cookies, and ice cream, anything sweet. Do you have any tips on how to not indulge all the time?
I have to eat chocolate on a daily basis. What I do is have a small handful of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips. It’s rich enough that I don’t eat a lot. That usually helps with the sugar craving. Much better than eating a whole pint of ice cream, which I’ve been known to do! 🙂
Thanks. I can also put back a pint very easily!
I randomly stumbled on your blog and it reminds me mine a lot! We have very similar interests! I will definitely add you to my blog roll 🙂
Thanks Julie! Following your blog now! 🙂
